Privacy Policy

As part of my work as a translator, I process personal data, for purposes including but not limited to performing translations, communicating with clients and record-keeping for accounting and tax purposes. For most of my translations, I use specialised software that stores my work in databases so that I can easily refer to it at a later date, as well as to guard against possible future complications should documents need revising or retranslating. These databases are accessible only to me, and I take reasonable measures (including the use of passwords and anti-virus software) to prevent unauthorised access to them, and to any other data on my computer. I also retain all my translations in case they are later required for legal or other purposes. Furthermore, as someone self-employed I am required by law here in England to keep my records for at least five years after the 31 January submission deadline of the relevant tax year.

I do not share the personal data provided to me by my clients with anyone else without explicit consent. I do not use online translation services or their application program interfaces to process personal data. I do not use personal data for marketing purposes without explicit consent.

Visits to this website are tracked by various third-party services (Analog, Awstats and Webalizer). These collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns, helping me to find out things such as the number of visitors to the various parts of the site. This information is only processed in a way that does not identify anyone.

If you would like to view your personal data that I hold, or would like me to amend or delete it, you can request this by contacting me via any of the channels shown above.

This policy was updated on 24 May 2018, and may be amended if necessary.
