More than a decade of helping businesses and organisations to achieve success

I have more than ten years' experience of working as an in-house translator. Even before graduating from my BA, I went to Dushanbe, Tajikistan, to work for the Aga Khan Humanities Project. There, I translated texts related to art, ethics, philosophy, religion and other areas and helped the project to collaborate with international consultants and experts. In my time there, the organisation went from being an embryonic initiative to providing a humanities curriculum for nine universities in Central Asia.

After returning to the UK and doing my MA, I moved to Moscow to work for Reasoning Mind, a not-for-profit educational organisation that provides online mathematics tuition to young schoolchildren in the USA. My job involved translating teaching material and problems. I also translated two textbooks, one on elementary arithmetic, the other aimed at university students and covering topics such as probability, fuzzy sets and topology. Again, I was part of the organisation’s journey from pilot programme to full implementation, helping thousands of schoolchildren to achieve better mathematics results.

From April 2010 until September 2013, still in Moscow, I worked at KPMG in Russia, one of the biggest professional services firms in Russia. Part of the KPMG global network, KPMG in Russia provides audit, tax and advisory services for many of the biggest companies in the country. My work covered various areas of business, such as auditing, contracts, financial statements (IFRS and RAS), tax and legal issues, corporate social responsibility and much more. KPMG in Russia and the CIS is rather bigger than the two employers above, and my contribution to the firm’s overall performance was a modest one. Even so, I am happy to say that while I was there it consolidated its position as one of the leading professional service providers in the region, expanding its operations and increasing its market share.

In addition, I have done freelance work for numerous clients.
